To teach the fundamental knowledge of the students in all fact of Science and Humanities department needed to attain better knowledge in all disciplines of Engineering besides, bridging the curricular gap between the school and collegiate education. The Department of Science and Humanities comprises of varies disciplines like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English. Since Science is the basis for all Engineering disciplines, the courses offered by the department form the foundation of all Engineering courses. The term Engineering is defined as “the application of scientific and mathematical principles to practical ends such as the design, manufacture, and operation of efficient and economical structures, machines, processes, and systems”. Hence understandings of the basic scientific and mathematical concepts are of paramount importance for an engineering graduate. Further, students need clarity in expression to put forth their innovative ideas. They should always have an eye for economically viable engineering solutions. The department of Science and Humanities plays a pivotal role in fostering the fundamental principles and understanding of science among the students. It aims to improve students’ communication skills in English and to inculcate human values and knowledge on economics. The faculty imparts proper guidance and motivation for the students from the first day of their joining the College
ENGLISH
English as an academic discipline comprises several sub-disciplines, allowing students to tailor the program to suit a variety of professional goals. The department aims at enabling the diploma student to use the four skills of language namely Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing in order to interact effectively with the peer group, the boss, the subordinates, and the common public with ease and facility. It strives to maximize student performance and retention through accurate advising, quality instruction, continuous evaluation, continuous programme monitoring and frequent meetings with students.
MATHEMATICS
Every branch of Engineering is based on the application of mathematics to the physical world to describe the transfer of heat, energy, mass and momentum It imparts Knowledge of practical application of Maths and how it can be incorporated in respective Engineering branches. Every branch of Engineering is based on the application of mathematics to the physical world to describe the transfer of heat, energy, mass and momentum. The department continues its commitments of providing a firm understanding of the underlying mathematical principles in the field of engineering, so as to develop a “Comfort zone” not only for Mathematics but also for its applications involved.
PHYSICS
The fundamental concept of physics provides the good background to learn the engineering subject very effective manner. It strives to find an intellectual challenge as well as a solid basis for a broad range of career opportunities and learn to solve problems. This fundamental knowledge carryout some project for the first year students to improving their research interest. Physics laboratory is used by all diploma students in their first year training. Physics Laboratory is spacious and well-equipped. Practical training involves measurement and study of physical quantities and properties; this is very important in present day technology which gives enormous importance to exactness and involves interplay between diverse properties of technologically relevant materials.
CHEMISTRY
It was found that engineers without the knowledge of chemistry are not real technologists. So this subject is taught to all branches of diploma engineering. The department strives to help students become scientifically responsible citizens, with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that will allow them to be successful in scientific or non-scientific professions. This fundamental knowledge carryout some project for the first year students to improving their research interest. The Chemistry Lab is well equipped with various models, different type of apparatus and testing materials. It has all the equipment in sufficient quantity so that each student can perform his practical individually.
